The effects of Pyrrosia lingua on kidney function in rats

Abstract

|
Pyrrosia lingua has been used as the diuretics in folk remedies. In order to investigate its effect on kidney function, urine volume, excretion rates of electrolyte, serum chemical parameters(BUN, creatinine, uric acid) and kidney and spleen weights of rats were measured. Hexane, EtOAc and BuOH fractions showed significant diuretic action than water fraction. Serum creatinin value induced by mercuric chloride had significantly decreased and uric acid and BUN contents was decreased by administration of fractions.
